How to craft Runeglass Gems

Crafting Runeglass Gems is no easy feat, especially if you’re aiming to do so from a new character. The Crafting process requires a fair bit of farming as well as Level 180 Weaponsmithing and Level 180 Stonecutting.

Making Runeglass Cases

The Runeglass Case is the very farm-heavy part of the crafting. Crafting a Runeglass casing requires three materials that drop at low rates all across the Brimstone Sands. In total it requires 10 Glyph Stones, 3 Ancient Globs of Ectoplasm, 10 Charged Sand, and 4 Sulfur.

Glyph Stones

Two of these three rare drops are Glyph Stones which will primarily come as drops from various Elite Chests across the Brimstone Sands. Mob in the specified regions can also drop them, but do so at a lower rate. Which region you open a chest or defeat a mob will determine which Glyph Stones you will get. Below is a quick list of the Glyph Stones and their drop locations.

In addition to looting them from chests or enemies, they are also commonly given as quest rewards.

Though these are one-time sources, they do award 5 of a given Glyph Stone, making them great for early crafts. Below is a quick list of Glyph Stones that are offered as quest rewards.

  • Chaos Glyph Stones – Scourge of Aeon Madness (Main Quest)
  • Food Glyph Stones – The Insatiable Flame (Side Quest)
  • Gift Glyph Stones – The Ancient Glyphs (Side Quest)
  • River Glyph Stones -An Ancient Balancing Act (Side Quest)
  • Water Glyph Stones – The Secret of the Baths (Side Quest)

Ancient Glob of Ectoplasm

The Ancient Globs of Ectoplasm are another resource that’s a limited drop from a select few areas, but will often be rarer than Glyph Stones, due to their higher rarity.

Ancient Globs of Ectoplasm can be looted from Supply chests, Elite Chests, and mobs in the following Regions:

  • Castrum Inferos
  • Castrum Kerberos
  • Castrum Pontem
  • Castrum Victualis
  • Jupiter’s Grove
  • Neapolis
  • New Rhacotis
  • The Great Bazaar
  • The Frontlines

Charged Sand and Sulfur

The remaining components of Charged Sand and Sulfur can be found all over the Brimstone Sands region.

Charged Sand is crafted from Sandstone Chunks obtained by mining Sandstone. Sandstone can be found in high concentrations in the desert surrounding Oasis Spontanea, the deserts surrounding Castrum Victualis, and around the Beds of Ta-Bitjet. Otherwise, they appear spread across the arid regions marked in white across the region.

Sulfur is crafted from the Sulfur Chunks obtained by mining Brimstone. Brimstone is found near Acid Pools, of which the Brimstone has five. These Acid Pools are known as the Pools of Orcus, the Baths of Mercury, New Thermopylae, the Spodu Hot Springs, and Heka’s Cauldron. The Pools of Orcus is the largest Acid Pool, making it the most ideal source of the material.

Crafting the Runeglass Case

Runeglass cases are crafted at a Forge and require 180 Weaponsmithing to craft. Next to certain weapons, this makes them among the highest levels needed to craft any item at a Forge, or use Weaponsmithing. It is highly recommended to be Level 200 Weaponsmithing

Each Runeglass case has its own distinct pairing of Glyph Stones, which can make some easier to craft than others, just due to the locations the respective Glyph Stones come from. The table below list each combination you’ll need for each respective craft.

Crafting a Runeglass Gem

With the Runeglass Case made, it’s time to craft a Runeglass Gem with it! Compared to the Runeglass Case itself, it’s much more likely you’ll have everything else needed on hand. Despite its low matieral requirements, it will however still take 180 Stonecutting to craft these.

Crafting a Runeglass Gem requires a Cut Pristine Gem you wish to upgrade, the Runeglass Case of choice, 2 Pure Solvents, and a single Gold Ingot.

The steepest part of this craft’s requirements is the 180 Stonecutting to put everything together. Sadly, it’s not possible to craft more than one, even if you’re Level 200 and have full crafting gear.

Which Runeglass Gems to Use

While Runeglass gems have a variety of options, some are clear winners over others. This is not to say these are absolutely best in slot, but should be heavily considered when perfecting your endgame setups.

Here’s a quick table with what I’d consider as the recommended options. Below that table is the reasoning for the choices listed. Feel free to experiment outside of these recommendations and see what works for you!

Oh, by the way, you can find in-depth Guides and Best Builds for the Weapons in New World here on VULKK.com.

The Damage boosting Runeglass Gems specifically Abyssal, Ignited, Frozen, Punishing and Sighted; are worth taking depending on your current loadout. While they don’t provide an insanely high damage boost, every little bit can count.

For Weapons, the Elemental upgrades can be a good consideration for weapons that will attack slower but have higher base damage. This applies to the Great Axe and War Hammer mostly, but can apply to the Bow, Greatsword (without Onslaught Stance), and Musket. These all have fairly high damage ratios from Attributes, but hit less frequently due to their slower nature.

Punishing is great for Melee-only setups, where Sighted Does the same for Ranged and Mage setups. If you use an Elemental Gem, you can also look to make use of the respective damage boosts to boost that over the weapon’s default.

Energizing can be a fairly good option as well, making it easier to maintain enough stamina to block, dodge, or in the Greatsword’s case attack. It works well with slower weapons that are more likely to trigger it with every attack but lack stamina recovery options.

Siphoning can be a great option for supports, as it can help them greatly with mana sustain where needed. I wouldn;t use them for general mage purposes though, as the gains aren’t going to offset the potential loss of damage by not going that route. If you still wanted to use one as a Mage, I’d recommend only using the weapon variation, as a DoT effect isn’t going to provide a huge loss of damage in most cases.

Leeching however can be a good tool for Mages, who generally lack sustain options. It can be a more defensive option over adding a DoT to your weapon or just going for the raw damage from Sighted. It can also work well for faster melee weapons that don’t have much sustain.

With that information, you now know how to go about the Runegglass Gem types and their effects, how to craft them and which to use for your build.
