History
The Hawkins County Sheriff's Office was established in 1786, making it one of the oldest law enforcement agencies in Tennessee. The first Sheriff of Hawkins County was John Sevier, who later became the first governor of Tennessee. Over the years, the Sheriff's Office has undergone a number of changes, including the addition of new divisions and the expansion of its jurisdiction.
